As a college student there are many paths you can take. For Bridget Kelly, a sophomore studying biology on the pre-med track, she chose to take a path not many students choose to be a part of.
During her freshman year, Bridget got invited to the YoungLife area leaders bible study, which provided her the opportunity to get involved in something that she now describes as much bigger than herself. Despite her struggles and hardships, she chose to follow the Lord during her college years.
Bridget currently serves as a YoungLife leader for students at Gainesville High School. Each Monday they have Club, which is what they call their weekly meetings.
“Club begins each Monday at 7:31pm. A fun way for students to remember when it starts each week.”
As for the structure of the meeting, it begins with a fun icebreaker game, leads into announcements, a worship song, and then the club talk. This structure engages students from the beginning and allows YoungLife to achieve their goal of reaching the farthest out kid.
By serving in YoungLife, Bridget has learned many valuable lessons. She now realizes what it means to show up and be present in wherever the Lord places her. She sees a new weight to loving them and praying that they would one day come to know Jesus.
“I hope to be a person who shows these teenagers Jesus. My goal is to be that person and to serve these incredible teenagers to the best of my ability.”
